Jesus tells a story abou

The agora at Ephesus, the kind of everyday marketplace the parable's manager knew how to work.

t a manager who gets fired for wasting money, then does something that should get him arrested too. And Jesus praises him for it.

Luke 16:1 English - ESV

Rich man's manager gets caught mismanaging the estate. He is about to be fired, no severance, no references, and he knows it. So he does the math: too weak to dig, too proud to beg Luke 16:3 English - ESV.

So he calls in everyone who owes his master money and quietly slashes their bills. A hundred barrels of oil becomes fifty. A hundred measures of wheat becomes eighty. Luke 16:6-7 English - ESV He is buying goodwill with money that is not his, while he still has the authority to do it.

Luke 16:8 English - ESV

Jesus is not endorsing the dishonesty. He is pointing out that the man used a temporary crisis with total urgency Luke 16:9 English - ESV, while we treat eternity like there is no rush at all. Read the next line closely: the sons of this world are shrewder in dealing with their own generation than the sons of light. That is not a compliment to the crook. It is a rebuke to us.

Monday morning translation: use what is temporary (money, time, a job) to build what lasts (people, trust, the kingdom). The manager knew exactly what

mattered and acted like it. Most of us know and still don't act.
